看电影:《破风》To The Fore

态度决定一切,嗯,对的,所以我看了好几次。

也不是说这部戏真的真的太好看,而是基于很多的好奇。

虽然对单车文化不陌生,偶尔会看国际赛事,但是也不知道其中太多的细节,大型赛事的rules真的超多,各国准则、团队策略、获奖jersey颜色区分和每站分数计算等等,没几年就更新,不是死忠迷是跟不上的。看《破风》第一遍时虽看懂,却希望更加了解其中的铺排,所以回家做功课再去看第二遍,才更明白当中的奥妙和导演的桥段,也把因为消化对白而损失了的画面补回来。没想到林超贤会把题材宽度拉的那么广,实在是想宣传单车文化,他把单车级别简单化,和现实中UCI的编排有出入,实属利多于弊,让人容易明白和有更多时间讲故事;戏里除了像大型公路赛,还有室内Velodrome,以及从来没有听过的接力赛Madison,导演誓要把所有种类都拍下来就对了。

当我回去恶补后(家里有个曾经是专业的)发现当懂得更多时,你就会开始挑剔戏里和戏外的真实性,但是如果根据实际单车故事来说,大家老早就睡着了,没办法,人生虽然精彩,却也是沉闷的,编剧还是需要靠手法才有效果。

导演真是大阵仗地投入这部戏,从人数车子、服饰配件、亚洲欧洲、上山下海到申请和Pros 一起开场,我觉得他有不做小生意的想法。如果只是几个家伙骑骑车卖卖乖耍帅也真的浪费了好题材,所以拉到极宽来做效果还蛮好,至少在两个小时中它不是围绕着同一个问题在打转,场景和进展接力呈现更多的故事。难得就是CG用的不多 (免不了还是有一些假假的镜头,能原谅),故事多以真实镜头来捕捉,而且拉宽、靠近和一镜到底都有,难怪众男神需要接受四到五个月的地狱似训练,才能有模有样。

导演拍的那么宽自然就很难拍的深,众选择只能取一。个人认为他取宽度舍深度是对的做法,毕竟这不是《激战》二人秀,他招来了一票男神拉票,就知道没有办法花时间在每个人身上刻画出深厚的人物个性,反正主角们几个月来也被操练地发疯,不把这些成绩拿出来晒还说什么单车励志电影呢?说真的,我还希望有更多关于人与车镜头,感觉演员们还有强大的爆发力可以使用,可惜却无法全部收集(还好戏里不是每个人都有半桶水的感情线)。

另一个角度来看就是单车励志电影比较不常见,但却比赛车手和拳击手类型的电影容易扣人心,因为单车非F1,不是Pro也可以班门弄斧,买辆Merida或Giant加头盔衣服Specialized鞋子Oakley等等就能让你有模有样,大家开开心心骑车去,不如想要辆跑车般遥不可及,是可以触及的励志科目,健康运动收腹提臀,热血的话明天就能实行,对于喜欢急速感的人更是诱惑,不难爱上单车 (唯我例外)。

我不会爱上骑车,但是电影却看的津津有味,虽然某些故事情节和镜头连我这种外行人也觉得作假,但是无损整体的素质。单车比赛是科学最出色的研究,它贴近自然,靠的是人自力踩着前进,因为有风有雨还有law of physics的作怪,让单车要变通:如何在风阻时还能向前进?如何储存能量?车子要多轻?头盔怎样会比较顺风?Aerodynamics ,也就是空气动力学在单车世界里是很重要的事项。然后动力学延伸到阵容,有了分工合作、有了lead-out、sprinter、waterboy和有了前后侧左换右等等这些策略,都是单车世界的特色。有一幕是两个敌对在沙漠中必须合作风车阵来破风省力,那个rotation对于观众来说是新鲜的,这些特色都能在《破风》里看到,故事不止有争输赢讲义气,还有策略层次运用,让整个故事很饱满。

其实这样的电影,The Making Of肯定比电影精彩,跌伤抄车掉眼泪这些绝少不了,能媲美成龙年代了。同样的,它也可能更无聊,因为一个运动员的锻炼是不断重复地做同一件事情,直到你征服自己为止,也许在外人看来每一天都平平无奇,但是自己的内心才懂它的喜怒哀乐。看来收获最大的应该是众男神,从基本骑车到有一定的水准,要能看能演同时能骑,每天重复过一个单车手的生活,苦练苦练再苦练,最后真正强大的何止是名气。

Summer blockbuster about sport, what not to love? Especially when the director got most of the elements right – colossal troops, running across two continents, good looking actors and a not-too-shabby story line.

I won’t say it is perfect though I’ve been to the cinema for it more than once. Nonetheless it is worth going to for all the fun and adrenaline rush. Cycling is far more friendly and reachable than F1 or GP, everyone can go and grab a kit (that’s what those movie sponsorships are for) and start pedalling tomorrow. It is a sport and a dream you can slowly build into, though it takes so much sweat and tears before you can look like a world champion, even Eddie Peng and Siwon Choi struggled and trained for four months before the filming starts.

Like most inspirational movies, it talks about cycling and the ups and downs to be in the game. Mind you, don’t get too serious about the rules and regulation (as to how UCI does it in real life), the movie simplified the tedious part and use the precious time to tell story instead. Good move I say, because the colossal troops and beautiful sceneries are very captivating; the most breathtaking cliffs and ocean view of Taiwan, the new state-of-the-art Velodrome in Hong Kong, the spectacular view of the Tengger desert and the Switzerland mountain. I am sure the cyclists can appreciate the message.

Besides having great views, there are plenty of bike stunts, team formation, races, and team spirit. It focuses on the pro bikers and their stories, which is a strong and good angle to go into instead of dapping fingers in every pot. Dante Lam mentioned he wanted to do this since 2001 but finally got the chance now, I say there could not be a better time.
