Fashion Story: Ellery, SS15

It is all about rich textures with appealing silhouette.

Something Kym Ellery is good at.

For SS15 it is long and lean – extra-long shirts, long blazers, relaxed straight-leg pants, and those beautiful dresses. Clean-cut to create a lean silhouette, I’m thinking that it benefits so many fashionista out there – for us who have less ideal body shapes.

Started off with casual pieces, the collection moved into serious dressing, stronger with every walk. Less dramatic compared to the earlier seasons, this season Ellery is all about  building characters.

Blazers are used to create different looks – something we have seen done by pioneers like Martin Margiela and Rei kawakubo. Do not be afraid make the blazers work harder – they are more than a square piece. A particular nice one – drape or tie it over a sexy evening dress to create a stronger and cooler look. What I really like about this collection is the evening-wear. Instead of dresses, Ellery is looking to create equally glamorous look with pants. Fluffy, off-shoulders and volume tops are what you need to dramatise the effect – again creating an appealing and well-balanced silhouette for that special night.

The Ellery SS15 collection is one you need to keep as styling reference.
