The House of Lanvin celebrated 125 years with an exceptional show by Alber Elbaz and his muses. Amber Valetta, Kristen Owen, Edie Campbell and many more walked the runway for Lanvin SS15 collection.
Alber Elbaz loves to play, especially when it comes to his design. He mentioned in his earlier interview with Porter magazine, that fashion is meant to be wearable and fun. Not just in fashion spread. He wants his Lanvin girls to enjoy the clothes and the swirl in them. That is exactly why everyone loves Alber. We want fashion that party harder than us.
The SS15 collection looks to me leaning towards paying tribute to Jeanne Lanvin and the women she had dressed. Demure, sexy and elegant, Alber Elbaz created Grecian Goddess with assortment of animals and flow, slitting and cutting at all the right places, giving the first half of the show a kind of stillness. Second half was all about Alber’s motto of dress for greatness. Of course the prints didn’t disappoint. Laces, brocades and silks from Jeanne’s time all renewed and included into the party. The animals were seen on bags, necks and belts, crawling all over the ladies. The thin metal straps on bags is back, finding its way above the wrists as part of the accessories. Even the close-up images are enough to put up a grand show.
It was indeed a big happy party for The House of Lanvin and Alber Elbaz.
