Tadashi Shoji, a name that has been in the market for such a long time. It may not be the biggest name out there for enthusiasts to fight over show tickets, yet it is one of those fashion labels that are holding their position so well you cannot ignore its contribution.
For 25 years, Tadashi Shoji has been creating pieces for departmental stores and specialty boutiques, and in 2007 he decided to move into the high-end market and has been showing in New York Fashion Week since.
Looking through his archive and this SS15 collection, it is unmistakable to say the fashion label celebrates the feminine side of women, moving them into cherish the softer side within.
The show is clearly divided into sections, with different songs and music to bring out different moody. From the morning of Spring to the night functions, and Summer getaway to dinner hang-out, and all the time maintaining a feminine and soft side of dressing and poise.
The lightness in Tadashi Shoji’s creation is combined with the right fabric to further enhance the total package of poise and beauty. The models were basically fairies passing by, letting the dresses do the talk. Everything you wish for a beautiful Spring time is here. For some reasons, the word ‘peaceful’ came into my mind when I watch the show. The softness in colours and fabrics, along with subtle prints and lace embroidery, everything creates a peaceful and effortless evening. The twenty minutes show feels like a mid summer night with zero dressing stress.
Perhaps at one glance some might say that it seems that every departmental store is showcasing similar styles. That is true, the difference is great mind like Tadashi Shoji conceptualised and created it, and all other factories trying hard to replicate these on cheap fabrications via bad workmanship. Talk about setting trends and influencing the mass market to dress well.
