There are times I need to use a string of words and multiple sentences to explain how I feel or view a particular collection. But not in the case of Emporio Armani FW14 presentation.
Mr. Armani presented a collection that is so solid that you only need the most important adjectives to describe them: smart, neat, clean, well-tailored, beautiful, and of course, fun.
First up: Smart
I have always, and will forever love women in smart dressing. But you know it is not easy to make the women look smart, without taking away the feminine stories in them, but Mr. Armani knows how to do it right, especially those killer suits. Tiny details and accessories to compliment the smart dressing: bows, pearls, pointy heels and leather satchels added in to tell the stories.
Then: Neat, Clean & Well-tailored
If smartness is about styling and pairing, then neat and clean to me always speak for the real work, as in cutting and tailoring. Mr. Armani has always been known for that: tailoring that look best on a woman’s body. Where to lengthen and where to stop. The three-quarter length game is a score, from sleeves to pants, every one of them stop at the right place. The just-above-the-knee length for those LBD is perfect example of keeping it neat. The suits are impeccable. The neckline, the waistbands, the hems, the hats and the leather goods are all sleek.
Nothing is out of place.
More: Beautiful & Fun
I’m sure beautiful and fun can be put together, though many may not do that. But I really think you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. Beautiful things should not be rigid, it should be fun. Look at the pearl lined collar ties (and everything else!), the oversized bowler hats (seriously want a piece of that), the geometrically perfect necklaces and the pointy heels. Fun without jeopardising the core.
Always so much depth in Mr. Armani’s work.
