Chinese media praised her for “finally able to show the world there is a pretty and presentable First Lady from China”. Not sure how far it is true, but seems like Peng definitely had a good start.
What sets her off from her predecessor, is the fact Peng was more well-known than her husband before he became the President. She was a well-respected contemporary folk singer and performing artist in China with a career of over 20 years, performing at all provinces and showing up in national shows in China while her husband works his way up.
So what do they say about women in showbiz? You know a thing or two with dressing up and presenting yourself.
Peng clearly knows more than a thing or two. She is praised for her elegance and poise too. The media commented that her presence at Xi JinPing’s first visit as President of China a very smart move, citing that her poise and soft touch brought good results in Xi’s bilateral meeting.

Above all, Peng is no trolley dolly. She is known as a smart woman with strong personality. Her years in public has moulded her into a character of her own, yet able to resume any role given to her. Now, it is the First Lady of China. Naturally when she speaks, she gives words of wisdom. Media around the world citing her interesting quotes over the years.
“智慧，是一种理性，一种思维方式。智慧的女人，知道自己要什么，懂得自己该做什么不该做什么。不以卖弄自己的学历和知识为荣，而是更加注重运用。智慧的女人，懂得辨别男人，不会把心血浪费在不值得的男人身上。”“Wisdom is a rational way of thinking. A wise woman knows what she wants, knows what she should and shouldn’t do. Don’t show off qualifications and knowledge, but emphasise on using it well. A wise woman knows how to read a man and does not waste her effort on a man who doesn’t deserve it.”
“Know the truth but learn to know whether or not it should be revealed, there are times to be clever and vice versa. Some things are better left unspoken. Be gentle and be patience, learn to tolerate and allow room for mistake, give others a chance and forgive with an open heart. “
Till then, take care.
